Schwarzenegger Signs Gay Rights Bill from Gay News From 365Gay.com

***UPDATE:  You can read the actual law here

I was just about to go to bed, [and I know Rob that I do post quite a bit 🙂 ] but I can’t go to sleep without blogging about this–today Schwarzenegger signed a bill that bans "discrimination in state operated or funded programs on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity."  According to the article in 365Gay:

The legislation is designed to protect from discrimination, Californians who utilize public services such as police and fire protection, financial aid, social services and food stamps.

Pam’s House Blend has all the news about this, including the conservative response.

I’ll have to look up the exact legislation tomorrow to see what exactly it says.

Although I can’t stand Schwarzenegger for vetoing the gay marriage legislation that the California State Legislature passed, I will send him a note of thanks tomorrow for doing this.  I still won’t vote for him in November though!

Finally, some good news to end the day…
