This is one of the headlines at 365gay.com today. The church is focusing on the Prayer of the Faithful, which has the words:
"God our almighty Father has given married love, its faithfulness and its fruitfulness, a special significance in the history of salvation."
I’ve said this before, and I will say it again in case anyone wants to accuse me of something–I have Catholic friends and family, so this is not about them.
And something else I have said before–I find it awfully strange that a religion that will not allow men (priests) to marry or women (nuns) to marry, to be the experts and the voice of God in what a marriage is. There also is no feminine counterpart of God, so I do not see now this religion can go around spouting about ‘married love’ when they have never experienced this, nor will they be allowed to.
This wasn’t always the case in the history of the church, however. Priests used to be married. In fact, we have church documents that say that if a priest is NOT married, he cannot be a priest!
Anyway, I also want to repeat that I don’t care what people believe in their own brands of religion. I do care when they start making religion the law of the land or using religion as a lead pipe to beat the masses of people who do not have the same beliefs. Then I won’t be quiet.
