We just watched An Inconvenient Truth, the documentary that starts (Vice) President Al Gore. It was really good and pretty scary to listen to. We are really screwing ourselves and something needs to be done. I already knew some of what he discussed.
Here is the website that is put up at the end of the film. The Science link is really good and will be useful to combat all those people who think this is just nothing. Speaking of them, just the other day, a group of so-called evangelicals issued a letter against the newest president of the National Association of Evangelicals. That group has decided to do something about global warming. Another group, led by Dobson from Focus on the Family, Don Wildmon from the American Family Association and Tony Perkins, the pres. of the Family Research Council has decided that this is not an issue that they should be dealing with (especially with gay marriage being the hot topic for them right now!). Dobson and his friends are calling for the resignation of Richard Cizik.
None of these people who signed the letters are members of the association! Luckily the NAE president said he would not resign.
Here is what Falwell had to say (after admitting he wasn’t a scientist)"
"I am today raising a flag of opposition to this alarmism about global warming and urging all believers to refuse to be duped by these `earthism’ worshippers."
All I have to say is watch the movie and then see where these people are coming from. They KNOW that global warming will not bring them cash, so they don’t want to deal with it. Which is shameful, since they should believe the Genesis account and people are stewards. But they never claimed to believe in that part of Genesis (they only believe the Sodom and Gom. story and little else…).
Last year there was a big scuffle over this issue as well. But people like Dobson from Focus on the Family issued this letter and declared (apparently with the voice of God):
