Yesterday was the Day of Silence so I didn’t post. But there were some good things that happened.
Soulforce traveled to some of the worst anti-gay colleges and universities to get them to see reason. It looks like it paid off in a very, very small way. Brigham Young University, the Mormon university, has a draconian law that states it would kick out students who were gay or who even advocated for gay rights–even if they were not gay themselves! My god, what country do they think they live in??? Anyway, BYU changed their policy yesterday to state that anyone who acts out their gay sexuality could be kicked out. It is still draconian, but it is a step forward. Of course BYU says it has nothing to do with Soulforce, but if they are denying it, then it must be the case.
The mayor of Madison Wisconsin and half of the city council members denounced the anti-gay marriage amendment that passed last year. They did this when they took their oath of office. ‘They vowed to work to minimize the ban’s impact and overturn it in the future." Good for them!
