I knew this was coming. King George will apparently veto the Hate Crime Legislation if it makes it through the House and the Senate. Well, at least he is consistent. If he does, it will be his third veto–after vetoing an end to the Iraq war he will then veto the human rights of people here in this country. No big surprise. Like I said, there will be a democrat in the White House next year, and all this mess will just be a bad dream.
Here is what the Executive Office of the President had to say about it:
"The Administration favors strong criminal penalties for violent crime, including crime based on personal characteristics, such as race, color, religion, or national origin.
"However, the Administration believes that H.R. 1592 is unnecessary and constitutionally questionable."
Let’s get one thing correct here–the choice of which religion you have is NOT, NOT, NOT a personal characteristic like race, color or national origin. Idiots. It is a choice. Now if these rabid anti-gay activists are saying that being gay is a choice, then there is no reason to say gay and lesbians shouldn’t be included because, after all, they believe it to be a choice.
The nice thing is that these faux-christians appear to be acknowledging that their hate message is not making it to Congress. The American Family Association is having its followers call the White House to call for a veto, and the Concerned Women for America is doing it as well. Their time is coming to the end, and they can now feel it. I am looking forward to the day when their hate collapses in on them and I am going to make sure they are remembered like everyone remembers the KKK.
The legislation has the support of LGBT civil rights groups and has been endorsed by more than 210 law enforcement, civil rights, civic and religious organizations, including: the National Sheriffs’ Association, International Association of Chiefs of Police, U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.
But since when has Bush ever listened to the majority?
