Ted Haggard Now Straight and Begging For Money

I was wondering when this was going to happen.  Now that Reverend Ted Haggard was caught doing drugs and having sex with a male prostitute, he believes that others should now pay him for his ‘misfortunes.’  What nerve this guy has.  He is a married man, has sex with men, spent his money on drugs and then wants the rest of us to send him money because he can’t afford to make a living!  He says:

"It looks as though it will take two years for us to have adequate earning power again, so we are looking for people who will help us monthly for two years," the e-mail said. "During that time we will continue as full-time students, and then, when I graduate, we won’t need outside support any longer."

But does he really need the money?  Well, I guess if you are addicted to drugs and male prostitutes, his old salary probably didn’t cover all his expenses.  Here is what the article at 365gay.com had to say about his finances:

Haggard received a salary of $115,000 for the 10 months he worked in 2006 and an $85,000 anniversary bonus before the scandal broke, The Gazette reported. Haggard’s severance package included a year’s salary of $138,000, and he collects royalties on his book titles, the newspaper reported.

El Paso County records show Haggard’s home, which has been up for sale, has a market value of $715,051.

His anniversary bonus, for a church he ran, was $85,000!  We should also remember that because he ran a ‘church’ his earnings would not be taxed either.  Wow, I should really be a ‘reverend’ with my own church…

Anyway, someone should tell him a better way to do this would to jump on the ex-gay-for-pay bandwagon and travel around the country.  But maybe that wouldn’t work so well since he was never gay in the first place.  He just liked having sex with men…

what charity can I sign up with to just send me money cuz I want to pursue more schooling or whatever?

  2. Kevin says:

Well, I think you have to start your own charity–that is what these people usually do!  🙂
And I see that on Pam\’s House Blend there are some suspicious activities associated with the \’charity\’ that Ted Haggard wants people to send money to..
