Gays, Lesbians, DL Foster and Nigeria

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about how some members of the U.S. Episcopal Church have decided they want to align themselves up with "Archbishop" Akinola of Nigeria.  Akinola is the one of the people from Africa that is demanding that gays and lesbians be purged from the church (well, that is alt least his intent).  Now one of his new bishops (which he ordained), Isaac Orama, is taking up the cause.  In an interview on Nigerian tv, (***I was mistaken here–this was said in an interview but not on tv.  And now the Anglican church is saying he never said these words.  Stay tuned!***)  the good bishop had this to say:

"It is scaring that any one should be involved in a thing like that and I want to say that they will not escape the wrath of God.” He said that the practice, which has worsened over the years, was "unbiblical and against God’s purpose for creating man.

Homosexuality and lesbianism are inhuman. Those who practice them are insane, satanic and are not fit to live because they are rebels to God’s purpose for man.”

What is especially scary about this is that Bishop Orama said he is taking this fight to the U.S.  His reasoning?:

"The aim of such fight is to provide a safe place for those who want to remain faithful Anglicans and Biblical Christians.”

So he states that gays and lesbians are not fit to live, and yet he wants to stop them to ‘provide a safe place for those who want to remain faithful Anglicans and Biblical Christians"?  So kill us off so that Episcopalians can be safe???  You have to wonder if this bishop actually thinks before he speaks. And if you think that the idea that gays and lesbians are Satanic is non-existent in the U.S., think again.  Just a few days ago DL Foster, at his website, Gay Christian Movement Watch, did a little expose on Satan.  His first paragraph reads (I have done the underlining and bolding):

Every now and then we get some misguided comment attempting to correct us for exposing the excesses of the gay christian movement and its attendant allies.  While such criticism is expected, it makes one wonder if those criticizing would do so if they knew the power behind the people: utterly evil with a devastating agenda. Note: we are not calling homosexuals devils, demons or evil. We are saying that people who intentionally subvert God’s truth are being unwittingly manipulated by satan, even if they are “God’s children”.

He continued with his comments on the following day:

Satan’s chief character trait is pride.  It was his strident pride which caused him to be deposed from heaven’s loftiest position under God. And we might add that hateful pride will seal his eternal doom. Pride has shaped satan into a being capable of unimaginable hatred for God and consequently all that God loves. Pride is sure to evoke a heated reaction from God. Jesus himself said he saw satan fall like lightening from heaven (Luke 10:18). His pride and arrogance was so offensive, God violently threw him down to the earth.  

It is interesting that the gay political movement first adopted pride as its main characteristic. At some point, the gay christian movement movement followed suit. Note: we are not calling gays the devil, but it is worth noting that pride in a false identity is what defines the gay movement. 

…Every lie originated with satan and there can be no reconciling of a lie with the truth. Even if a lie is mixed with truth it becomes a lie.  A lie corrupts anything it is paired with.  Satan attempts to corrupt every thing God has done and said by seeding lies into it. Sexuality is just one of the areas where a lie has corrupted the purpose and intent of God.

Although DL Foster repeatedly states that he is not saying gays and lesbians are demons, he says that Satan lies behind everything they do.  For me, the message from Bishop Orama and the message of Rev. DL Foster are the same.  They are both demonizing gays and lesbians.  They want people to believe that if anyone speaks out against their religious beliefs, they will suffer the consequences.  DL Foster and Orama want us to believe that they are on the side of God, while all gays and lesbians are on the side of Satan.  It is this kind of language that all gays and lesbians should fear, since it will ultimately lead to violence against them.  We can see this happening in Nigeria.  Let’s hope that it doesn’t lead to violence against gays and lesbians here.
