Newsy Bits

This past weekend the heterosexuals in San Francisco threw a dance party called Exotic Erotic Ball.  I have no problem with it.  Big deal.  I’m not going to now write about how all heterosexuals are dirty and disease-ridden and shouldn’t be allowed to marry or have children or have rights.  But I have to wonder if Peter LaBarbera and his female buddy Allyson (sp?) Smith flew to San Francisco to go undercover to catch all the escapes of those nasty heterosexuals?  Will Peter give us photos and video of this heterosexual party?  Not surprisingly the answer is no.  At least I assume he won’t since he posted today on his hatesite about those nasty homosexuals.  So Peter LaBarbera is willing to spend his non-profit’s money to fly all the way out to San Francisco, stay in a hotel room, go to Folsom Street and post repeatedly about it, but he isn’t willing to do it about the same type of event, for heterosexuals.  Hmmm.  Sounds like a bit of bias if you ask me.  Of course, Peter probably couldn’t tear himself away from all of the pictures and video he took at Folsom Street Fair to spend time seeing some of his own sexual preferences and practices exposed…

And not too much new is happening at ex-gay’s site Gay Christian Movement Watch. Same old boring stuff.  The other day DL Foster was complaining about being called hateful and such.  Poor DL just doesn’t get it.  People like him actively use their religious beliefs to change laws that affect those who do not follow the same religious beliefs.  He pretends that this is God’s word that he is following, or at least that is what he claims.  Luckily there are only a few people like him (well, more than a few) who have to hide behind a good religion to do bad things.  I can understand his motive, however.  In his case he has to keep proving to the world that he is a straight man who has totally converted from being a gay man and there is no other way for him to attempt this except to keep those homosexuals down and under control.  He also just doesn’t get it that when religious views are pushed on an unwilling group, that group will fight back.  History is full of examples.  But he isn’t interested in history.  He is only interested in proving that he is now straight.

Now on the good side of things:  I just finished reading Alvin McEwen’s Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters:  Exposing the Lies of the Anti-Gay Industry.  It is a fantastic book.  It is very depressing to hear how gays and lesbians in this country have been lied about so much that even laws have been changed because of these lies.  It is certainly a good expose on the anti-gay industry and that is certainly a good name for it.  People like Lou Sheldon (Traditional Values Coalition), Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) and so on have made quite a bit of money lying about gays and lesbians.  This should be required reading for all gays and lesbians and it should be required reading for legislators who are being duped by these so-called religious people.  It is horrifying to read about the endless manipulations that these so-called religious people use to get their ways.  If anything, it has increased my desire to expose people in the anti-gay industry for what they really are.  Hopefully I will have a book review written for it in the next couple of weeks.
