This is really good news. ENDA passed in the House today. It is both good and bad. The Democrats were worried that the inclusion of transgendered people would make it impossible to pass, so they took them out. That was bad since it means transgendered people can be fired from their jobs just for being who they are.
But the good is that in the near future, gays and lesbians could be protected from being fired from their jobs because they are gay and lesbian. It still has to pass in the Senate and of course, Bush will have the ultimate say. He could veto it. But he will be gone in less than a year, and then true equality for gays, lesbians and transgendered people in this country will begin. The sooner, the better, if you ask me.
