Peter LaBarbera, the "president" of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality hates the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Every chance he gets he bashes them. Here is his latest statement about them (and here ‘her’ is Nancy Pelosi):
We are also asking her to denounce the anti-Christian bigotry of the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” — a San Francisco group of men who dress in drag as mock “nuns” — which works directly with Folsom organizers and is a major beneficiary of that sadomasochistic event.
I will say right up front that I don’t know any Sisters. I do love them though. They do great things like fundraisers–not only for the gay community but for the community at large. For example, just recently there was an oil spill in the San Francisco Bay (which had nothing to do with gays and lesbians, unless some nutcase wants to blame it on us as well). Here is what the Sisters did:

SLICK: a benefit for the bay
Get lubed up with the Sisters and support the SF Bay oil spill clean-up. Your donations will support the work of the Marine Mammal Center and the SF Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Seafaring attire is suggested.
If you are unable to come, please consider making a donation at the Marine Mammal Center site.
Here is the mission of the Sisters and below it I put the mission of Peter LaBarbera:
Now of course Peter LaBarbera is upset with any group that dares to support human rights, respect for diversity and everything else. Here is his mission:
Peter LaBarbera, 45, is president of Americans For Truth (about Homosexuality, or AFTAH), a group dedicated to exposing the homosexual activist agenda. Founded as a part-time venture in 1996 but newly reorganized in August 2006, AFTAH seeks to apply the same single-minded determination to opposing the radical homosexual agenda and standing for God-ordained sexuality and the natural family as countless homosexual groups do in promoting their harmful agenda.
Anyway, the differences are plain to see. LaBarbera seeks to harm people, while the Sisters seek to help. Since 1979 The Sisters have raised over a million dollars AND have given that money away. What has LaBarbera done with the little bit of money people have given him? He flew out to San Francisco and took pictures of the Sisters and others at the Folsom Street Fair and then tried to make some money off of them. I once challenged him to tell me how much money he has donated to charities–but he consistently refused to say.
