Just Some Newsy Bits and a list of Bible Quotes on Adultery

I see that a Federal Court has reinstated a lesbian into the military.  It is unfortunate that they did not strike down the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, but they are forcing the military (the Air Force in particular) to prove that she is a danger to unit cohesion.  They will also need to show that morale improved after they kicked her out.  That that ought to be interesting…

I see that John McCain thinks that marriage is uniquely for a man and a woman.  Of course, McCain totally ignored the New Testament and its message on adultery, of which he is guilty of.  He was still married to that unique woman #1 while courting unique woman #2.  Here are some (but not all) Bible passages on adultery (I give these just to show the hypocrisy of people who use the Bible to bash gays and lesbians but ignore the rest of it):

Exod. 20:14 You shall not commit adultery (one of the 10 Commandments)

Exod 20:17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. (another of the 10 Commandments)

Lev. 20:10 If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

Deut. 5:18 Neither shall you commit adultery.

Prov. 6:32 But he who commits adultery has no sense; he who does it destroys himself.6:33 He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.6:34 For jealousy arouses a husband’s fury, and he shows no restraint when he takes revenge.

Jer. 5:7 How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and have sworn by those who are no gods. When I fed them to the full, they committed adultery and trooped to the houses of prostitutes.5:8 They were well-fed lusty stallions, each neighing for his neighbor’s wife.5:9 Shall I not punish them for these things? says the LORD; and shall I not bring retribution on a nation such as this?5:10 Go up through her vine-rows and destroy, but do not make a full end; strip away her branches, for they are not the Lord’s.

JEr. 7:9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known,7:10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, "We are safe!" –only to go on doing all these abominations?

Jer 29:22 And on account of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,"29:23 because they have perpetrated outrage in Israel and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken in my name lying words that I did not command them; I am the one who knows and bears witness, says the LORD.

Ezek. 16:35 Therefore, O whore, hear the word of the LORD:16:36 Thus says the Lord GOD, Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your whoring with your lovers, and because of all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children that you gave to them,16:37 therefore, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you took pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated; I will gather them against you from all around, and will uncover your nakedness to them, so that they may see all your nakedness.16:38 I will judge you as women who commit adultery and shed blood are judged, and bring blood upon you in wrath and jealousy.16:39 I will deliver you into their hands, and they shall throw down your platform and break down your lofty places; they shall strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful objects and leave you naked and bare.16:40 They shall bring up a mob against you, and they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.

Ezek. 23:43 Then I said, Ah, she is worn out with adulteries, but they carry on their sexual acts with her.23:44 For they have gone in to her, as one goes in to a whore. Thus they went in to Oholah and to Oholibah, wanton women.23:45 But righteous judges shall declare them guilty of adultery and of bloodshed; because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.23:46 For thus says the Lord GOD: Bring up an assembly against them, and make them an object of terror and of plunder.23:47 The assembly shall stone them and with their swords they shall cut them down; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses.23:48 Thus will I put an end to lewdness in the land, so that all women may take warning and not commit lewdness as you have done.23:49 They shall repay you for your lewdness, and you shall bear the penalty for your sinful idolatry; and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Matt 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to go into hell.5:31 "It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’5:32 But I say to you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Matt. 15:17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth enters the stomach, and goes out into the sewer?15:18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles.15:19 For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander.

19:3 Some Pharisees came to him, and to test him they asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?"19:4 He answered, "Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’19:5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?19:6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."19:7 They said to him, "Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?"19:8 He said to them, "It was because you were so hard-hearted that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.19:9 And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery."19:10 His disciples said to him, "If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry."19:11 But he said to them, "Not everyone can accept this teaching, but only those to whom it is given.

Matt. 19:16 Then someone came to him and said, "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?"19:17 And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."19:18 He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness;19:19 Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Mark 7:20 And he said, "It is what comes out of a person that defiles.7:21 For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder,7:22 adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly.7:23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

Mark 10:2 Some Pharisees came, and to test him they asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"10:3 He answered them, "What did Moses command you?"10:4 They said, "Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her."10:5 But Jesus said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you.10:6 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’10:7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,10:8 and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.10:9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."10:10 Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter.10:11 He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her;10:12 and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."

10:17 As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"10:18 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.10:19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.’"10:20 He said to him, "Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth."10:21 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."

Luke 16:18 "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and whoever marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

Luke 18:18 A certain ruler asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"18:19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.18:20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother.’"18:21 He replied, "I have kept all these since my youth."18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."

John 8:3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery; and making her stand before all of them,8:4 they said to him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.8:5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?"8:6 They said this to test him, so that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

Rom 2:21 …While you preach against stealing, do you steal?2:22 You that forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You that abhor idols, do you rob temples?2:23 You that boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

Rom 13:9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your neighbor as yourself."13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.

James 2:8 You do well if you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.2:11 For the one who said, "You shall not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery but if you murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.2:12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.2:13 For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

2 Peter 2:12 These people, however, are like irrational animals, mere creatures of instinct, born to be caught and killed. They slander what they do not understand, and when those creatures are destroyed, they also will be destroyed,2:13 suffering the penalty for doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their dissipation while they feast with you.2:14 They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!2:15 They have left the straight road and have gone astray, following the road of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of doing wrong,2:16 but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

Rev. 2:20 But I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet and is teaching and beguiling my servants to practice fornication and to eat food sacrificed to idols.2:21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her fornication.2:22 Beware, I am throwing her on a bed, and those who commit adultery with her I am throwing into great distress, unless they repent of her doings;2:23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.

Now answer me this:  why is it that with so many proscriptions against adultery there is no push to make adultery illegal in State Constitutions?  Why is it that no one pushing to keep adulterers from adopting children?  Why is it that there is no push to make sure that adulterers are not able to put their new spouses under their insurance, or to keep them from visiting them in the hospital or to keep them out of restaurants or employment, when even Jesus Christ himself forbids it except for unchastity?  Why is that?

And that whole argument by DL Foster that there are no divorcee or adultery churches out there is moot–divorce and adultery is accepted in this society (or if adultery is not accepted, it certainly isn’t demonized like gays and lesbians are), despite what Jesus and God has to say about it.  You don’t need divorcee churches because there is no need for them.  When the same treatment is given to gays and lesbians, there will probably not be a need for gay churches either.

So John McCain really needs to think about his ideas of marriage and adultery and how that applies to what he said about gays and lesbians.  And so do all these other anti-gay crusaders who use selected parts of the Bible as a weapon.

    Kevin,
The answer to your question is so simple:
"Now answer me this:  why is it that with so many proscriptions against adultery there is no push to make adultery illegal in State Constitutions?

It is one simple word "Hypocrasy"

When you confront them with their hypocrasy they beome indignant and accuse you of attacking their Christ and making his empty
and worthless (rolls eyes).  These people are truely ignorant when it comes to their bible and their interpertation of it.

I got this the other day and all but fell out of my chair laughing. I do hope you dont mind my sharing it. have a great day.

    C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is avirgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed. (Deut22:13-21)

    D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall beforbidden. (Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)

    E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor theconstitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall beconstrued to permit divorce. (Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)

    F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marrythe widow. If he refuses to marry his brother\’s widow ordeliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of oneshoe and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law.(Gen. 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

    G. In lieu of marriage, if there are no acceptable men in yourtown, it is required that you get your dad drunk and have sex withhim (even if he had previously offered you up as a sex toy to menyoung and old), tag-teaming with any sisters you may have. Ofcourse, this rule applies only if you are female. (Gen 19:31-36)

    Hey Justin!
Those additions to the Constitution are absolutely hilarious.  And I support changing the constitution like this 100%  🙂
