The Alliance Defense Fund and Liberty Council suffered a major setback today in that the State of California Supreme Court unanimously refused to grant a stay on the gay marriage issue. 🙂 I couldn’t be happier!
Matt Staver, the head honcho for Liberty Council said this about the upcoming marriages:
"I don’t believe at the end of the day the people will allow four judges to rewrite marriage," Staver said. "If any same-sex marriage licenses are issued before November, the passage of the constitutional amendment will make them invalid and invisible."
"Invalid and Invisible"? Hehehehe. He can only hope that we become invisible if the state Constitution changes. There is nothing that will make us go away, despite what Matt Staver and his followers would want. Even if the State Constitution changes. But he will make sure that he keeps his nose in this since this is worth quite a bit of money for the anti-gay marriage group.
And so that brings me and Doug to the big question–when is our wedding going to be??? I think we should get married on June 17th, the first day we can. But he wants to wait until July sometime. I am so happy that his parents will come for it, which is why we will probably wait until July. Whatever we do, the wedding will be a pretty low-key affair. I think we will have a big party/reception at the house though. Now, where do we register??? 🙂
