It appears that Stacy Harp has bitten off more than she can chew. Over at Goodasyou Stacy has been calling places where people work to put in complaints if they email her. Well, someone got the bright idea to look up her own employment history. It turns out that Stacy Harp, who has been calling herself a therapist for years, is not a licensed therapist. She states that she is not licensed in California, which hints that she is licensed somewhere else. However, in her bios she only lists one university, and that was between 2001-2005. She has stated that she holds "a Masters of Science degree in the field of Clinical Psychology, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development." It doesn’t sound like she holds any other degrees. But yet she constantly refers to herself as a marriage and family therapist. In her comments at Goodasyou, she denies this. This is true. She doesn’t claim she is licensed, but yet she refers to herself as a ‘registered marriage and family therapist’ in California (see below) and every interview she does she states she is a therapist. As I say below, calling oneself a therapist when you are just an intern is like someone calling themselves a doctor when they are still in medical school. Here is the comment I left at Goodasyou about Stacy, the so-called therapist:
You state above:
"As for Scott’s comments – once again the man is misinformed. I am not a licensed therapist here in CA. I have never claimed to be a licensed therapist. And if Scott would just come to me directly instead of his rumor mongering, then maybe the man could get his facts straight. His threats are baseless."
So why is it that on your Amazon you call yourself a "marriage and family therapist" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A2K6XDRHS1D6NP?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview)???
You also claim on an interview at StoptheACLU that you have worked as a therapist for four years(http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives/2006/04/11/blogger-hosting-boy-love-site/). This was in 2006.
You also state in your Linked profile that:
"I am also a Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern in the state of California, and work in private practice and also a school setting and domestic violence-drug abuse shelter."
In 2006 when you appeared on the show Dayside you referred to yourself as a family therapist (http://www.newshounds.us/2006/04/13/fox_news_censoring_the_internet.php)
When you appeared on Fox you were introduced as a family therapist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7EMz5QHs5k)
On Oct. 17, 2007, on the Evangelical Outpost (http://www.evangelicaloutpost.com/archives/004010.html) you referred to yourself as a ‘marriage therapist.’
In March 2006 you called you state: "I know from my experience as a marriage and family therapist…" (http://www.bloggernews.net/2006/03/10-things-you-can-do-today-to-protect.html)
At your MindandMedia Flicker account you list as your occupation: Publicist and Marriage, Family Therapist (http://www.flickr.com/people/mindandmedia/)
Are you telling me that you are telling people you are a therapist, but you are not licensed as a therapist? I would bet there is a law against that. Do you have clients? Who would dare call themselves a marriage and family therapist, and advertise themselves as a therapist, when they are not licensed???
Or do you mean that this entire time you have been calling yourself a therapist, but you were only an intern? That is like a person in medical school calling themselves doctor. It sounds like fraud to me.
My guess is Stacy Harp is soon going to regret calling herself a therapist and regret her vindictiveness against people who emailed her. She tried to get people fired by calling their place of work, and now the tables have been turned. We’ll see how the State of California feels about someone who claims to be a registered marriage and family therapist, but is only an intern…
