Three Great Pieces of News from Around the Country

The good people of Oregon City have elected their first transgendered mayor!  This country is changing so quickly…

The other is that President Obama, to my utter delight, released this statement about his transition team:

The Obama-Biden Transition Project does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by law,” the Transition team says on its official Web site.

Did you notice that?  Sexual orientation and gender identity?  Wow.  This is opposed to Bush, whose special counsel ‘refused to protect lgbt workers."  And according to the article, after 2004 glbt workers did not have any protections!  Can Bush just leave now and let all of us have our equal rights???  Our time is coming!  I am so happy!

And finally, one giant thanks for Governor Schwarzenneger.  He came out swinging against Prop. 8.  He hopes that the State Supreme Court will overturn it. Here is a little from the article:

Speaking on CNN Sunday, the governor called passage of the constitutional amendment “unfortunate … but it’s not the end.”

“I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area,” Schwarzenegger said.

Appearing on CNN, Schwarzenegger urged gays not to give up in the fight for marriage equality.

“They should never give up. They should be on it and on it until they get it done,” he said.
