Now let’s see if it will pass in the Senate. Luckily, President Obama has stated that he will sign the bill, as opposed to Bush who refused. Here is what the President had to say before the vote was taken:
"I urge members on both sides of the aisle to act on this important civil rights issue by passing this legislation to protect all of our citizens from violent acts of intolerance – legislation that will enhance civil rights protections, while also protecting our freedom of speech and association,” the President said in a statement. I also urge the Senate to work with my Administration to finalize this bill and to take swift action.”
Wow, what a difference it has made to dump the Republicans (and I see that even Republicans are abandoning the right wing ship that was once the Republican party)!
