Is this Photo Real?

UPDATE BELOW

Can someone tell me if this photo is real?  I have seen it used in a couple of different websites and they believe it to be real.  However, why are the faces behind President Obama so large?  What is going on with President Obama’s right elbow?  What is going on with that cadet’s tie (or whatever that is) (far right bottom)?  And would a cadet be able to sit in front of the President of the United States and read a book?  I would think that the commanding officer (other than President Obama) would have slapped that guy across the head for showing such disrespect to the Commander and Chief.  Anyway, if anyone hears if this picture is a fake, let me know.

As I thought, the picture is a fake.  Now all those who hate President Obama will have to eat their words…

Here is the real pic:

It\’s pretty clear it was photo shopped, having said that reading a book while the President is speaking, is rude and disrespectful, first row or not.

  2. Justin says:

As Rob said the picture was photo shopped and since I watched the speech there was no one reading any books while Obama spoke. Are you sure this isn\’t a red herring thrown up by some right wing group to show our troops do not respect the president. You can be pretty sure if anyone had been reading during the speech the news media would have picked it up and the bruhaha would be on.

  3. Robert says:

This is what Reuters had to say about it: A U.S. Army cadet reads a book entitled "Kill Bin Laden" as he waits with other cadets for U.S. President Barack Obama to deliver an address on U.S. policy and the war in Afghanistan at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York December 1, 2009.So he was reading this book prior to the speech, not during.

Hi guys, yes, that picture above with President Obama is a fake. I saw too that this guy was reading a book beforehand. What is interesting about all of this is that the blog I saw this on is that so far she has not acknowledged that this picture is a fake. She was also complaining the other day about the doctoring of photos by the wacky liberal left. So I thought this was kind of funny! Besides, clearly it is a fake and was doctored, especially after I saved it and blew it up a bit.

  5. Justin says:

The more I have looked into this the more I am certain that the photo was doctored to try and make people believe the troops do not support Obama. I want to point out what the book he was reading a half an hour before the speech by the president was really about because the right would never tell this story. This is what the Times on Line had to say about this: "His choice of reading material was hailed on conservative websites in the US as a rebuke to President Obama’s circumscribed new strategy for Afghanistan, which does not specifically target bin Laden and makes no mention of the word “victory”. "Kill bin Laden is a delta force commander\’s insider account of the Tora Bora battle, and his squad\’s mission to kill al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden. In an interview with CBS News\’ 60 Minutes, the writer spoke of how close the team came to killing bin Laden, and how his plans for the final push to bin Laden\’s lair were called off by his superiors back in the United States. The CBS interview clearly shows we had Bin Laden but some one in Washington pulled the plug on it. Hmmmm could it be that George Bush was hell bent on invading Iraq and the killing of Bin Laden would have brought that to an end. Now let me say this. Helping some one evade capture is called aiding and abetting a criminal action. It sounds to me like some one in Washington was aiding and abetting Bin Laden in his escape from Tora Bora. Perhaps we should look into criminal charges.

Great point Justin, in fact I would argue it\’s the mistakes such as the Book mentions by the Bush Administration, as to why Obama was left with difficult decision.Kevin I have a pretty good idea who it was that put up the fake photo, bet she also claims to stand for truth, and Jesus!I won\’t mention that all liars go to hell, lol!

  7. Kevin says:

Hey Justin! Good points! I totally agree with you.And Rob–I\’m sure you know who this is. She didn\’t take it down or put a correction in–but she did leave a comment saying it was a bad photoshop. I\’m still wondering why she would change it or at least explain that in all of her excitement about this how she even tries to figure out what these cadets are thinking–even though the whole thing was a fake. Oh well…

  8. Robert says:

I did find out who it was, and it was who I thought it was. The photo is anti-Obama, so that\’s all that matters, truth doesn\’t matter as long as it is anti-Obama.

  9. Kevin says:

Hey Rob! Yes–if it is anti-Obama, even if fake, it is worthy of \’news.\’
