The other day Peter LaBarbera was ranting about the fact that Soulforce was going to all of these homo-hating colleges and universities to get them to have some type of dialogue. Like Cheney and Bush, LaBarbera is totally against any type of meaningful dialogue with those they disagree. They would rather lob bombs than talk. Anyway, LaBarbera’s title to his post (where he talks about himself in the third person) is: Next Stop in Soulforce’s Intimidation Campaign Against Christian Colleges: Bob Jones University.
Here is his first paragraph:
Americans For Truth President Peter LaBarbera accuses the homosexual group Soulforce of intimidating Christian colleges by demanding a “dialogue” with them and then protesting at those colleges, like Bob Jones, that refuse. He called on Soulforce to apologize for linking faithful Christians who believe the Bible’s clear teachings against homosexuality to “spiritual violence,” and chastised Soulforce for exploiting the genuine, black civil rights movement.
I’m not going to counter everything LaBarbera has to say–anyone can see that it is rubbish anyway. But what I will comment on is that I received an email from Soulforce yesterday about their trip to Bob Jones University, a supposed Christian college (that, by the way, did not allow blacks and whites to date until 2000!!!). No doubt Bob Jones University still believed in the Bible and that slavery was acceptable…Anyway, Soulforce attempted to talk to students, but guess which group was there to prevent this? You guessed it–Americans For Truth About Homosexuality. Here is part of the email from Soulforce:
On April 4, the Equality Riders arrived at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina — an institution notorious for its long-standing prohibition on interracial dating, which was finally repealed in 2000. Upon arrival at Bob Jones, Equality Riders were met with groups protesting their visit and message of inclusion for God’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender children. Operation Save America, Truth Ministry, and Americans for Truth were among the anti-gay groups present. Through bullhorns and signs that proclaimed "Sodomy is Sin" and "Three Gay Rights. 1. AIDS. 2. Hell. 3. Salvation," they loudly and forcefully spoke against the acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.
Isn’t that sweet of such a faux-christian like Peter LaBarbera not to mention that that he was part of the blocking of a dialogue? He wrote his post at AFTAH on the very same day that some of his minions were blocking Soulforce.
